If you’re rushing to get a hat ready and done before the end of the day but you’ve got no idea where to begin, this is the pattern you are looking for. Keep it simple, but pretty with this easy peasy lemon squeezy bulky hat pattern that you can whip up in just a few hours. 

This easy hat pattern is ideal for using leftovers and/or a skein of this bulky yarn you’ve been saving for a special occasion. Let the yarn speak: choose a high-quality single ply bulky-weight yarn that will showcase this hat. 

Knit in the round from the bottom up, it includes a minimal amount of stripes, ideal for a new knitter who wants to learn about stripes before venturing into bigger colorwork projects. It's also super easy and quick to work (hello TV knitting).

Level = Beginner/ Curious Beginner

Notions you need to know: Casting on, knitting and purling, knitting 2 stitches together, placing markers, changing colors (optional).

MATERIALS

- 90-140g of Bulky weight yarn. Yarn recommendations: Superwash Merino Single ply bulky weight yarn (120-140 yards/100g).

- Circular knitting needles (16 inches / 40cm or longer for magic loop) and/or double-pointed needles in size US 10.5 (6.50 mm)  or different size to achieve gauge. 

- Optional: Circular knitting needle (16 inches / 40cm) in size US 10 (6.00mm) for a tighter ribbing if desired

- Stitch markers

- Scissors

- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends

- Optional: pompom 

GAUGE

14 stitches and 21 rows = 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch using US size 10.5 (6.5mm) needles.

SIZES

Size 1: 15.5 inches (38cm) circumference;  8.5 inches (21.5 cm) tall

Size 2: 17 inches (44 cm) circumference; 9 inches (23 cm) tall

Size 3: 19 inches (49 cm) circumference; 9 inches (23 cm) tall

Size 4: 20.5 inches (52 cm) circumference; 9.5 inches (24 cm) tall

Size 5: 22.3 inches (57 cm) circumference; 9.5 inches (24 cm) tall

Size 6: 24 inches (61 cm) circumference; 10 inches (25 cm) tall

Hat meant to be worn with - 4 to + 2 inches of ease (-10 cm to +5 cm)
