Hey friends,
I've been quiet for a little while. In truth, I needed a break. Fall is always a busy time in my day job and in the knitting world, and I was feeling burned out. But I wanted to keep you updated on what was going on in my life, crafting-wise.
*New fingering-weight sweater I cast on. It's a raglan-style, multi-colored sweater. Similar to the Sea Glass sweater by Wool & Pine, but using a different construction method and a different yarn weight and a single color as base. Okay, so it's not the same at all.
Right now, I'm working on multiple sweaters that are taking forever. I've finished 2 projects over the holidays, but cast on one more. I'm finishing an old sweater that I cast on before the pandemic (yeah, it's been that long), and working on a budget-friendly sweater that I'm not sure I like (the yarn is more rustic).
*This is an old WIP I've pulled out. Finished the body, knit the collar and one sleeve. I'm on sleeve island with this one: only 1 more sleeve to go! Yarn is from an Indie-dyer who's not in business anymore.
*My favorite stitch marker made with Austrian Crystal Beads <3. Shop Stitch Markers for Knitting here.
*My new WIP using more affordable, rustic yarn. Knit with a circular yoke, using Berrocco Lanas Light. Project not blocked because I like to keep it real on this platform.
I also picked up an old quilt I started about 3 years ago, and am in the process of finishing it using only leftover fabric. Full disclosure: my fabric stash is as big as my yarn stash, which means I have TONS of fabric in bins. Some with baby prints that I bought when I was pregnant - my oldest will be turning 12, so you know it's been a while.
I've loved working on this quilt; it's been a true blessing to have my sewing mojo come back! It's a zigzag pattern that's about King size, that I want to use in the winter on my bed. All my other handcrafted blankets have been claimed by my kids, so it's time for me to have something for myself. Yay! I only have some top stitching left to do, and add a final border.
I wish I had more time to sew, but the time required to set up and the fact that I don't have a dedicated place for my supplies keep me from sewing as much. One day, I keep telling myself, I'll have a dedicated space for sewing. Fingers crossed.
I also miss making stitch markers. Every so often, I get the urge to make them. And now it's here, but I don't have the time to do so, and my shop is still full of the markers I've crafted in the past. A few months ago I bought Austrian crystal beads that are just chef's kiss. The markers made with those are so pretty, I've been using those exclusively in my WIPS (I've even swapped old ones so I could use the new crystal ones). They're that awesome! They keep me so motivated in my projects. I might have to make some more just for fun.
*Lately I've built World of Wizards boxes that include these Austrian Crystal Beads markers. Gorgeous <3. Shop more stitch markers here.
Today, I've found myself with the pleasant unexpected gift of a day off work, and I want to take advantage of this to work on the crafts I have in the works. Stay tuned for better pictures of finished objects!
